Having fun with the turretboard puzzle!
But I did decide on the passive components. The whole preamp signal flow is going to be DALE military grade metal film series RN65D and VISHAY SPRAGUE orange drop 715P capacitors. Mainly for looks and stock reasons. Just started out working on the layout, ‘cus this aint no ordinary JTM45…
Done drilling the chassis, front and back and mounted the face plates. Still being indecisive about the knobs.
Tried a big Master Volume knob today. It really helps to achieve minute adjustments to the volume. The metal black ones (2nd photo, lower row on the left) are too big I am afraid.
heating up the Weller… still doubting to go Hiwatt/Roccaforte style tagboard, or Marshall/Fender style turrets? Leaning towards the back turret board, as it looks nice in the black/silver style I am aiming for.
Look at these beautiful diagonal grains on the dove tails. Big thanks to Aya Magdelijns the cabinet maker for sending this update.
Checking out some knobs. I favor the silver Marshall style, but the simple classic black/white pointer knobs is more convenient to handle. (in an ordinary pine cabinet for now)
Aya Magdelijns is working on the Wengé cabinet. Wengé is a very tough hardwood and she is shaping it beautifully..
Yesterday did some work on this MTS SL+ module. it’s a great module, but the tonestack was a bit funky. Added a bit of gain and gain shaping, modded the tonestack and voilá .. a tone monster!
Super happy with these panels …. look at them!
Next job drilling the front and back chassis for all the controls.
